iPhone 6s started playing up. Was turning off data on its own. Then following restart would not let me turn WiFi or Bluetooth on or access reset menu.
Tried to update it and then tried a full factory restore.

That stops on Apple logo screen after getting almost all the way through.

I’ve tried several times from different laptops with different cables. No difference. Have left it overnight / all day and it never gets passed same state.

Do I bin it and look for a new replacement or are there any other approaches for one last try?

Thanks

Sounds very much like some of the hardware has died. Bin it and treat yourself to a nice new one if I were you.

I took my 6s into an Apple store last weekend and the sales oik couldn't ID it laugh

It's also running a ridiculous amount of system storage - so its days are numbered I think

Thanks all. I think it’s time to bin it and buy something new.

My 6s lasted for about 5 years with zero damage. I upgraded it last Christmas to a 12, and gave the 6s to my youngest son. The screen is now in a million bits, but the old thing soldiers on.

IMO a 6S is getting to end of life, but if you’re lucky, they keep going. When IOS support stops, it will be really EOL

Also positing this from a 6S, my personal phone

It's good beyond the awful battery life...but the operating system is the bulk of the 16GB storage now and it won't let me download the update...

I had a 6 for 4 years and then a 7 for 4 years now coming up to 4 years on an iPhone X. Just comes a point when you can feel it slowing down and apps becoming a bit laboured.

I am still using a 6S. Battery life is up there with the life cycle of a fruit fly - but other than that it all works.

Every day is a bonus. smile

The maths doesn’t work out there. The iPhone 6 was released September 2014…

Same for me. This post courtesy of that battery draining piece of tech.

6S dinosaur here too, I have to concede that mine has seemingly been a bit more buggy the last few days / weeks than its usual flawless performance.

[Tin foil hat] I wonder if there is something mysterious in the Apple ecosystem trying to kill them off? [/Tin foil hat]

My music app has gone really laggy, and it keeps dropping bluetooth connection with the car , and some other apps seem a bit more laggy than usual, just feels like it's having to work harder to achieve what it used to do without issue. Battery life is rubbish but that is par for the course.

Sorry Mr. Gates, please don't use your nanobots against me.

Thanks for the offer but just found out Amex a now doesn’t work on our other iPhone 6. That’s just annoyed me as the app was fine, but it checks version on login and won’t proceed unless I upgrade which I can’t so it’s game over.

It does if you have more than one at the same time

Another 6S hanger on here. Mine seems to keep soldiering on, I am not a big app user, but the memory is almost full and I don't understand the "cloud" storage thing at all and have so far been too tight to pay for it.

Any recommendations on what iPhone model would be a sensible upgrade for a 52 year old tech Luddite who does not use iTunes or download music or stream movies etc. I just make calls, surf PH, watch a few YouTube channels occasionally, and take photos.
