Hi, recently changed F90C for F90LCI. iDrive and setup is quite different in some areas. Managed after a week to sort most things out. However, can't get the M headup display to work unless switch M Mode button on every time I get in car. Can't get it to setup up on M1 or 2 buttons like it used to in the old F90. It's quite irritating because in M Mode you can't use cruise control. Is there any way to get the display on without M mode being on?

Hi - I think the only way to do this is via coding...not been able to select the M screen either on my LCI other than selecting the Sport mode.

Also with coding, I made some changes (e.g. animated M startup screen, video in motion, etc) - BMW undid this with their "over the air" updates.

What did you use to code it? I have Carly, but it won't work with my Jul 20 build car.

The key difference (i think) is the Driving Modes also being available, as IIRC that's where the HUD Display settings sit.

Outside of the M- Modes, the drive settings are Road/Race/Track, with each having it's own display settings (pre-set). So when in Track mode, all the additional screens switch off & you're left with just the Dash & HUD & only limited items displayed.

As regards Cruise control, i think this can still be available in M1, but is cancelled out depending on the settings, so you'd need softer (not Sport Plus) for your M1 as i believe it's Sport Plus that cancels out the Cruise Control, although could be MDM that does this.

Sorry, I got a bit confused with terminology. So I can only get M display on heads up when I press the MDM button by the gear stick. It won't let me programme M1 and M2 with this display although seems to suggest that it is an option. In MDM mode the cruise control is disabled and if you activate it it defaults out of MDM and M heads up display disappears. Apologies for the confusion, but it's doing my head in that I can't have the M heads up display!

I’ve only had my M5C for 3 months, so I’m not 100% sure how everything works.

I don’t think the M5C has an M Mode specific display in the HUD, as per the E60 did, but I’ll double check when I’m next out in the car.

As regards the cruise control deactivating when selecting an M Mode, I’m sure this relates to the settings you select within each M Mode & have a feeling it’s the Traction On/MDM/Traction Off that dictates this. Traction fully on in your M Mode should keep Cruise activated, MDM or Off will switch Cruise off.

Have a contact - Adam @ DD Coding, remotely connects to my car via my laptop - think he uses the bmw software.

Thanks for your reply.
The F90C I previously had (and the F10CP before that) could be programmed to show the M heads up display with the M buttons. The LCI version which I have just got does not seem to allow this. The only way to get M heads up display appears to be pressing the MDM mode button by the gearstick. But this then cancels if you try to use cruise control, and you can't programme this button, as far as I'm aware. I don't think the M buttons disable cruise control. Hope that's clearer, it's very confusing and irritating and apologies for appearing repetitive.

Maybe I should go on M5Board or similar, don't visit there very often.

Without checking I suspect that activating Cruise would require the car to have DSC fully on...regardless of model
