Share dealing fees
Discussion
I've got £700 in shares in abrdn plc. The used to be Standard Life shares and I've had them so long that I've forgotten how I came to have them.
I received correspondence today from Equiniti Financial Services Ltd, who claim to manage the arbdn share account, inviting me to either sell my shares or buy some more for a fee of £50.
As I'm never going to make a fortune from 246 shares, I'm inclined to sell them, but a fee of £50 seems a bit salty.
Are there any better ways to dispose of them?

Open an account elsewhere, do a transfer in of the shares (should be free, instruct via new platform), sell for less.
Fidelity, Charles Stanley Direct etc. Take your pick.

Are they paper certificates or in a CREST account? I received correspondence today from Equiniti Financial Services Ltd, who claim to manage the arbdn share account, inviting me to either sell my shares or buy some more for a fee of £50.
