Nintendo Wii - anyone else still playing?
Discussion
Ours in centre stage at the minute having enjoyed a resurgence in the past 18 months in our household.
I've been on a bit of a buying spree with games as they are cheap as chips in the part+X game places, although not got round to playing most of them yet.
Currently playing Wii Sports and Wii Fit mainly, but just started playing Need for Speed Nitro and Mario Kart. Daughter is playing Barbie horse adventures.
Anyone else still enjoying the fun that can be had from this classic console??

If you've bought enough of the disc games but get fed up of swapping them constantly, look into hacking the Wii to read them off a USB stick / SSD.
You use the Wii itself to read your original discs into images stored on the USB storage and then just use a menu system to select them.
We had this setup for most of lockdown last year but have now moved onto a modified Wii U with a similar setup

I did try that as our library of games is now pretty large, but I couldn't get it to work. Everything looks fine but when ripping the disc to the hard drive it always freezes part way through. Tried several drives from different brands but gave up in the end. No idea what's wrong with it, so just using the discs. You use the Wii itself to read your original discs into images stored on the USB storage and then just use a menu system to select them.
Any game recommendations? I didn't realise Animal Crossings was on the Wii. I've seen a few gameplay bids on YouTube if the switch version of that and it looks quite fun. Might have to get that for me and daughter to try.

The Just Dance series (the track listings are online in wikipedia, ignore anything which is listed as DLC as the store is shut).
Mario Party 9 is freeplay mode
Super Mario Bros Wii in co-op mode
Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars
House of the dead overkill
Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2
We Ski & Snowboard, can use the Wii Fit for snowboarding mode
Super Smash Bros Brawl
Should be enough to keep you occupied for a bit.

Have you tried using the Wii Backup Manager application on a Windows PC to format your external drive first? We relegated ours to the holiday home where it still gets played every time we go. Nothing beats it for co-op simple fun.
Party, Sports Resort and Mario Cart get the most time. Console is showing its age though, only ejects discs very erratically and it’s quite hard to get inside the device to fix.
The wii motes are also pretty knackered, accelerometers all to pot. I bought a couple of Chinese compatible knock offs but they’re not as good as originals. Shame Nintendo stopped making them, though the console is 15 years old!

Same here with the remotes. One of mine stopped working and both nunchucks were dead as well. Got some new ones, the nunchucks are fine but the replacement Wiimote had.already lost its sound. I'm going to order another I think and then use the one with no sound as an occasional player 3.Party, Sports Resort and Mario Cart get the most time. Here is my current library of games...

And the most recent aquisitions, a set of sports accessories. A bargain at 50p each:

Surprisingly they really do transform the gameplay, particularly on tennis and it feels more like an actual game in that you can better aim where you want the ball to go. Great stuff!

Impressive collection!
Michael Jackson: The Experience?
Is it "Not suitable for adults"?
I can't see Wii Party - that's easily the one which is played the most in our house.
Looking through what else I have -
Bully is quite fun (like Grand Theft Auto in a school),
Little King's Story is very original, but a more serious game and quite hard.

haha! I've not tried the MJ Experience yet. I bought it as its a dancing one and thought daughter might know a few of those songs. The trouble with the Wii dancing games is most of the pop stuff is now out of date so she hasn't yet come across most of the songs to really get into them. I've just ordered a Disney game (not sure if its singing or dancing), so might try out good ol' MJ at the same time! Michael Jackson: The Experience?

I'll report back.Wii Party - that one passed me by, so I'll be sure to pick that up. Bully has got good reviews, but I was always put off by the game title to be honest. I'll take a look at the game play and see. Never heard of LKS, I'll have a look!
If you want a hard game though, try out that Ninja Turtles game. Bloody impossible it is to get over the walls. I'm completely stuck with that.

Picked up a few more games over the past week or two...

De Blob - because we played it on my bro-in-laws XBox recently and it looked quite fun.
Pirates of the Carribean - beause it was 75p!!
GT - cheap racing game, worth a check, ditto with Monster 4x4.
Deal or no Deal - daughter has taken a liking to this in the arcades, so thought we'd get the Wii version. Played it and its pretty good!
Sing It - As it says, Disney songs that we all know. Daughter loves to sing, so we got this for a bit of fun. She's happy with it.
Sonic - I've fancied a Sonic game for a while. At £6, its pretty expensive as far as Wii games go, but wanted to try it out.
So there we are, more stuff on the cheap to keep us entertained indoors later in the year, when the sun goes back into hiding and winter hits.
I do love rummaging through the titles in the CEX stores. The one in Doncaster that I discovered this week is massive and they have a great selection there.
Anyone else picked up any Wii bargains lately?
