Just interested in what people have gone too after owning a TVR, more importantly the people who really loved their TVR (like there is any other kind) & what they have turned to for that love affair fix?

Buy another one. Best way. Had quite a few years between my first and second. Carlton on the way out so introduced the wife to a rather nice Vixen. She was sold and we bought it. An itch that can only be solved by owning one, any one.

It depends on how much you spent on the wife!

Not a TVR owner (student income doesn't strech that far)
but at the same time as wanting one for the performance etc,
I don't think I could put up with the niggling faults and questionable reliability that they seem to have.
GRP Crazing, Unresponsive dealers, mechanical faults, badly fitting roofs.. etc etc.
It would truly break my heart to see the thing deteriorate or throw countless thousands after it to keep it in reasonable condition.

Not particularly a fan of the elise or caterfields,
Not really a fan of the nostalgia thing (buying some mid 70's, 80's, early 90's car).
Maybe a Porsche?... The Boxter is a bit poofy, and the 996 cabrio is too expensive. Hmm..??

No worries Nik. That sticker's gotta be worth a couple of seconds per lap! Got it dyno'd yet (& did they get rid of the 3k flat spot I had on mine)?
What's wrong with the Tiv, just fancy a change or has it got probs?

Why is it most of the people who moan about TVR's dont actually own one. Chinese whipsper syndrome here I feel, I have never had any of these so called problems either. TVR are no worse than any other make of car.

How true this is! The biggest problem of being a TVR owner is listening to non-owners whine on about how unreliable etc. they are - boring. I have not had any of these oft referred to problems with my Tiv.

Steve.

Having sold my cerbera I moved my adrenaline fix towards Ferrari as I now own a 355 and it is a fantastic driving experience.....nowhere near as balls out approach to motoring as the cerbera was but at the same time a fantastic 'complete ' driving experience...and the handling is superb.....but when I have enough money i WILL be buying a cerbera in addition to the 355.....never lose the taste for a TVR even if they do have lots more niggles than other performance marques...

Leadfoot, I was assured the sticker would account for at least 3 seconds a lap! if this is not so I'll shall be after my £4 back , just completes the picture for me that's all, now I really look like the old Yanagawa! had it on the dyno, comes out at 122 at the wheel with alll the other mods, flat spot standard isue on these with this sort of kit unfortunateley, does'nt really bother me thogh as it's used 98% trak, luckily though, I read a warning about 7R Akrapovik at the weekend, there is a design fault with the spring retainers rubbing against the sump and wearing a hole, causing oil to spay niceley over rear tyre, mmmm... checked out, and sure enough! fixed now though, never know how close yer come do yer, cheers again Leadfoot.

as for my reasons (if they came about) they would definateley not be reliability problems, I have had NO serious let downs in my 5 years of owning two different Chimaeras including two 3.000 mile trips round europe, we have had more problems with brand new, suposedly 'well built' German cars (BMW) than with the TVR, so no reliability isues here I'm afraid, and as for paint crazing with the GRP, I was in a certain Ferrari dealer at the weekend only to see on a'V' Reg 360 crazinf all down the side of the drivers door, asking price? £79,000, you can buy a house for that money that also has crazing!

Hardly a comparison, but I had to sell the TVR for an impending marriage. In the end, I got myself a Lexus IS200 Sport thing and a BMW Z3.

The marriage never happened after all that.

God, I miss her. The TVR that is....

based on my wife's reliability experiences with her audi a3 1.8se (eg lights go on for no reason, boot lock didnt unlock, sometimes stalls when trying to start from cold, drinks too much oil... was this car built in blackpool? )... I would rather she'd bought a TVR... mine in blue and hers in pink ...er i mean raspberry

although two TVRs on the drive might be taking the piss.
