Hi guys,

I'm looking for something fun for 7k and under, I've looked at MX5s, 2l and 3.2l Audi TT and the usual hot hatches, but is there anything else around?

It will be my only car, but I have a company car for work so is basically just a toy.

I'm not too worried about insurance and running costs, as long as it won't make me worry it won't start every time I get in it.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Cheers

It depends what you really want.

I fell in love with BMWs with striaght 6 engines, RWD and manual gearboxes when I bought my first in 2014.

So maybe a 130i, 3 litre Z4 or a leggy Z4 Coupe would work.

But on the RWD theme a Nissan 350Z, Mazda RX8 or MX5 would also fit the bill.

And if you don't mind FWD there must be loads of alternatives.

As fwd cars go a Megane R26 is very hard to beat, especially on track.

Boxster might be worth a look. Should get a decent older model for that price.

A sports car is definitely the way to go if you have a company car to do any sensible driving in.

In addition to the MX5/Boxster options, how about a manual 6-cyl BMW Z4? Will hold its value as well I reckon with the newer ones all being turbo and auto etc.
