I cant believe how cutting edge this show has remained since it’s initial conception, time has only improved it. It must be about 15 years since it was first aired!
I’ve just watched the funniest episode I’ve ever seen (The one where Bart and Homer convert to being Catholic and they have the “Protestant heaven” v.s. “Catholic heaven” with the river dance scene).

I agree it's maybe not as good as it used to be, but that's like saying the Ferrari F430 isn't as good as the Enzo.
The Simpsons is still the funniest thing on TV, and the funniest show ever to be conceived. Fantastic, whitty, society-crossing, light-hearted stuff.
Can't wait for the movie!!!

I have always loved The Simpsons, although as others have pointed out later episodes have missed the edge somewhere (perhaps we are asking too much from it?) but a movie oh no no no no and NO ! Remember what happened to South Park? Killed that off? (and yes I know the female who done the voices died). I just wish they would stop repeating the same ones over and over, when CH4 took over from beeb 2 I hoped to see some of the later episodes but no same ones.
I read an interview with Matt Groening a while back, and he said that the reason the movie is taking so long is because he doesn't want it to bomb the franchise like the South Park movie did. I think they'll approach it well, and they're obviously taking their time on it.
I too am getting sick of the repeats, but only because I have them all on DVD and have seen them dozens of times anyway.

One of the top shows of all time without a doubt. My favourite characters have to be Snake, Homer and the Comic Book Guy. Genius.

Yup, absolutely love it - though am getting slightly bored of all the repeats and none of the new(er) ones.
Best episodes for me - the April fool one, where Bart shakes up one of Homer's beer cans and it's so violent it's wobbling the fridge (and beer explodes out the chimney!)
...and the second, where they go to family therapy with the electric shock machine (very early episode, in fact, I think it's the first one I ever saw).
Great series, I just truly hope the movie does the show justice!

Love the simpsons. Best episode when Homer was training Mo to talk to women and Mo then asks out a flower girl, she says yes and Mo's response is something like 'I can't believe you will go out with me, are you serious? your beautiful, but you could have hiddeous scars all ovber your body for all I know'.. (but better than I can explain!)
Also love Southpark - not many shows make me laugh out loud so much (especially cartman)

It's OK, my problem with the 1st series is that the characters have different personalities than the rest of the series (and are drawn and sound differently as well)
