Which animals do you think (if any) you could beat in a fight if you were unarmed?

Let’s assume the animal attacks you (for some reason) and you either have to kill it or make it retreat.

Assume also that if you’re fighting a water animal you’re in the water and in swimming shorts or speedos and if it’s on land you’re just in normal outdoorsy walking type clothes (not body armour)

hehe

Realistically, the first three, for the vast majority of people. Possibly one of the smaller chimps - like, a *REALLY* small one biggrin

For the rest, you'd need an exceptional set of circumstances to not get your arse handed to you.

2% of people think they can beat a lion, grizzly bear or an elephant

Id add the cobra to the first three.

Surely you run round behind it pick it up by it's tail and swing it round and round and round

The others... no chance. Chimpanze will rip your eyes out and eat your brain.

Kangaroos are tough as fk.

No takers for the tiger shark? Sharks are extremely flighty, and confidence in the water will usually see them retreat.

Personally I think sharks are terrifying so I haven't nominated myself for this.

The last two, no chance.

I backed myself against the first 4, and as I spend a lot of time swimming in the sea I always hoped I could deter a shark by grabbing sensitive areas like eyes and gills but realistically I think the tiger shark would win on points. hehe

You’d also need to see it coming to have much of a chance I expect. Then you could stare it out and show it you’re the boss.

I wouldn’t fancy my chances against any of those.

ETA: best question I’ve seen on here for a long time.

3 particularly badass PH'ers reckon they could take on a cobra hehe

Unless you have superhuman reactions and speed, if you're within striking distance of a cobra, and completely unarmed, I really don't fancy your chances of not having a very bad day.

Depends on the Crocodile. Dwarf Crocodile is probably doable as they are only about 30kg. Nile Crocodile not a chance.

Clear the Swan thing is just a joke as it has been proved time and time again that the 'Swan could break your arm' thing is just a nonsense and an old myth.

The dog and the cat are the two likely candidates to be beaten by a human, but if you have ever seen an angry and out of control dog or cat, you could well go for 50/50 as to who would win.

I once watched a large cat attack a bloke in a house and it was one of the most brutal things I have ever seen. The cat was faster than you could believe and went right for his neck/face/eyes. Absolutely savage. They bloke managed to get it off in the end and run away, but he was torn to shreds.

I wouldn't want to get into a fight with any of those listed animals, but I'll take the Swan if I have to. According to Countryfile "Swans are not that strong and it's mostly show and bluster"

I ran out of options so instead of none I put more animals in.

Don’t you think you could defeat or deter a cat? I know they’ve got sharp claws and teeth but it’s still a cat.

I’m not saying you’d want to fight any of these (or any other) lovely animals but . . Y’know . . . If you HAD to?

There’s loads more I would have added but PHs didn’t think we’d need more in the man vs beast poll.

Maybe we can do another one next month with more domestic British animals rather than these fancy exotic beasts.

Kangaroos are vicious bds and will attack people. The Eastern Greys are also fking massive. Nothing like driving along at dusk, wondering what that is on the road and then realising there is a 7 foot roo staring at you.

I was walking around a lake last Saturday with my little terrior dog when a golden retriever made an aggressive B line for us.
I managed to grab my dog and pick her up quick so the retriever thought it was ok to jump up at me.
It got a swift hiking boot to the guts and it legged it back to its 3 fishermen owners.

They starting swearing at me and calling me names. Maybe they thought I was going to let thier dog attack me.
Strange people!

Based on that I will take the Golded Retriever and the Swan.

Nah, me neither.

I happened upon an angry squirrel the other day - not sure what caused the upset, but a fierce and bold little bugger it was.

Deciding that discretion is the better part of valour, I took my gardening activities off to another part of the garden.

I did not dominate my garden hehe
