Hi all

I am looking to get my front pads done and BMW UK and Germany are saying they are not holding stock and can't give me a date for availability.

I know the CCM disc's and pads are a brembo OEM option, does anyone know what the brembo part numbers are and any options for alternative stockists?

Also has anyone got any experience with the ancilliary items BMW recommend and if these are really necessary or just padding out their sales figures?

I have been quoted the below for the pads with the other items being recommended. Seems steep for retaining springs and pins unless these are made of some kind of specialist material...

Brake Pads- £503.53 Inc. Vat

Pad Sensor - £21.94 Inc. Vat

Pads Retaining Springs - £45.79 Inc. vat

Pad Retaining Pins - £97.94 Inc. vat

FTW

I understand the F82 carbon brakes to be CCB not CCM. The discs made by SGL which is owned by Brembo, the pads are made by TMD (Pagid).

Surface transform do a replacement carbon disc which is cheaper and widely used by Porsche owners.

TMD offer a few CCB pad compounds however I'm not sure they will have the NVH countermeasures on them that BMW use.

The pad sensor will likely brake when being removed so definitely go for those, the springs and retaining pins shouldn't need replacing, I wouldn't bother unless an actual fault is found.

Why are you replacing pins and sensors? I'll caveat this with I have steel brakes on my M4.

I've changed my pads numerous times before and after track days. The pins knock out easily with a punch and can be re-used. Is that not the case with the CCBs?

The sensors need replacing if they're faulty or you've let your pads get so low, you've activated them. They slide on and off the pad's backing plate relatively easily. One sensor front and rear diagonally positioned.

The caliper are different so are the pins but I agree, no need to change them unless there is a problem.

Good job getting the sensors out of the pads without damaging them!
