Cayenne 955 4.5S 6spd manual on springs?

I test drove a 2004 hoping it would be like a jacked up 996 but wasn't.
Steering was very light with no feel, ride was bouncy and the gear change was ok but not tactile.
The V8 was super smooth and revvy, at odds with the rest of the driving experience.
Is this normal or do you have to spend time getting to know it?
