Hi my wife is currently looking at part exchanging her macan s for a cayenne e hybrid. Trouble is local dealer in glasgow is giving a terrible deal- car at full price below book for p/x and a extortionate finance rate. They arent really interested in doing any deal. I have also spoken to a few dealerships in england and hopefully they can help a bit more. Does anybody have any recommendations for dealers that arent stealers? Cheers

Sell the car privately and source external finance?

Get a quote from WBaC which will give you some idea about the value of trade in and also put it on Motorway to get trade bids.
I doubt there will be much discount as new cars are so hard to come by but shopping around for finance could save a bit.

a deal? in this day and age? with Porsche? say what? nono

sell privately or via WBAC, which at face value most people would think them to be the last resort.... far far from it - they are commonly the best course of action as they are jonesing for cars and are offering the best money on many Porsche models (subject to spec/milage of course).

You wont get a discount on the new car. My approach when buying a new Porsche is to spec it up and list the options in order of price from highest to lowest and then try and get as many of the low value ones for free as possible.

If you get some of those options for free is that not a discount ?

Sell car privately and then phone as many dealers as you can and see who is keen to deal
My feeling bases on info is that Porsche are now running 24/7 building cars and hope to deliver a shed load of cars this year form October and hopefully this influx of cars will mean better deals on new cars. Also I believe OPC now offering as much as they were as they are aware many tarde ins coming soon., hence your low ball offer. Sell privately now and buy in October if you can.

Yes but that is how to do it rather than ask "whats the discount"

Anyone that has ever bought a new Porsche knows that they dont respond to the D word

I tried this as we got alot of options free with the macan- 20" rs spyder alloys, metallic paint, privacy glass xenon headlights and alcantara and leather interior. Porsche arent interested in giving anything for free. Made us feel like they were doing us a favour selling us the car!! smile i hate to say it but im trying to convince the wife to buy a x5 e hybrid which is a better car. Its a shame as porsche is going to lose a customer. Interestingly bmw is giving us a far better deal

I know this as the word discount is like a swear word to them when i bought the macan before smile they ended up giving us at least £4k in options but not a bean this time!

If they can already sell all available new cars at full price, why will it be their loss?

Because they will lose a customer?! And i can guarantee that they wont sell every car at full price. Some people want a better price on the car than just accepting the first price and not negotiating. As i said i know that the car stock is very low but they are offering nothing not even mats or a free tank of fuel smile

You will lose a fortune on the X5 compared to the Porsche. I guess you are buying on PCP but you are still funding the depreciation. Cheaper finance around than dealer finance. I have just sold a Porsche back to my dealer after 2 years at 7% over Webuyanycar. Even came to house to collect it. Is the Macan a diesel as demand has dropped for these in second hand market
You mention it’s their lose but they can sell everything they make !! I’ve just ordered a car and won’t be delivered till Q3 next year!! Don’t forget many of their customers are running more than one Porsche and they will work on bigger margins than BMW. I refuse to buy BMW anymore their policy of big discounts seems good but it ruins secondhand value. Fine if they offer 0% finance to shift metal. Also their designs have gone down the pan big time.
Their cars are no longer the Ultimate Driving Machine as they once said

Totally agree, you will lose a fortune on a BMW. I am getting out of a BMW and were it not for the demand for good second hand cars I would have lost so much.

If the wife wants the Porsche and you get the X5 she will never be happy with it. Been there big mistake ! I’ve always found Porsche Exeter and Mid Sussex good to deal with

What are you basing the book value on? WBAC are pretty accurate, Glasgow offered me a grand less than WBAC for mine recently, and given it’s need a front end resorts I was fine with that.

As for discounts/deals I think you’re onto plums just now given how tight supply is. You would probably get an experience day and some tequipment tat though.
