They may be be stinking filthy dogs but it’s now

Maybe not the Taliban as such then, but the British Empire , then the world’s superpower, couldn’t conquer Afghanistan in the 19th Century.

In the interest of being pedantic, the Taliban flag is actually mostly White.

Hmm, It's about time China has a go now isn't it?

I imagine they could pull it off, of all the nations that have tried thus far - I doubt they'd worry about the consequences of the human rights violations needed to eradicate insurgency.

I doubt the Russians did either...

The Chinese would build a re-education camp (and not let people back out alive) and an apple factory (and let people out once a year), offer the locals a choice of which one to go in and make them want to buy cheap knock off versions of consumer products. No need for all the bombs and guns stuff.

While sort of true you have to wonder how this all plays out having let people for 20 years do what they wanted and now trying to bring about restrictions. Day 1 the taliban have all thr guns, but day 10 and you could see the country become a Palistine, or Northern Ireland. Plus the people there are Sunni not Shia (like Iran) so I doubt Iran are helping and I doubt china want to help and Pakistan rely on china for a lot of trade. Long term taliban may well fail any way.

The Chinese were rather more merciful in previous conflicts, British troops captured during the Korean War attested to that regarding their treatment in POW camps. The Chinese tend to favour assimilation and soft power over shock and awe and military conquest.

I hope the countries who took part in the Afghanistan campaign will be happy to take in the Afghans displaced by this regime change.

When you're wounded and left on Afghanistan's plains,
And the women come out to cut up what remains,
Jest roll to your rifle and blow out your brains
An' go to your Gawd like a soldier.
Go, go, go like a soldier,

Hopefully now they have their caliphate it will empty the country of sympathisers eager to try it out

Just ensure they have a one way ticket.
