Audi order deposit

Audi dealership asking for a 10% deposit to place an order on a new vehicle. Just wanted to see if this was the norm for Audi as never been asked for such a large deposit just to order a new car before Thanks

That is a lot of money.

We've just about to order an RS4 via Forces Cars Direct and they want £500. 9 month lead time.
Try a different dealer.

Agreed, a fixed %age is very strange but it perhaps depends on the car. However, most Audi dealers will take anything between £300 and £1000 as a deposit, and per the guy above this I just ordered an RS3 and only had to give them £300.

Was quite frankly shocked as I had assumed they would say £500 however when the words 5k deposit came out of their mouths took me by surprise. Will try another dealer then in that case

Depends on the car, colour and spec. We used to take bigger deposits for special order colours or models/engines that might be tough to move on if you cancel last minute.

I've just ordered and spec'd up a New BMW M240i DTC X Drive and was asked for £1000 Deposit....

I was asked for £1k deposit on Octavia VRS (VAG) in July which seemed reasonable. Lead time stated as 25 weeks, but build slot now updated to late August (2021!). Happy with that
