Hi all,

I've had a look but can't see any Threads related to this, being a Car Forum there are bound to be a few that I've missed, if so, my apologies.

24 years ago when I passed my driving test I inherited my first Car from my Mum, coincidentally it was also her first Car too. Before that it belonged to my Mums Aunty. Understandably there's quite a bit of sentimental family history attached.
I've often thought that it would be great to track it down & try to buy it back. I've done a SORN check & it's off the Road & has been since 2012.

I'm aware that the DVLA won't simply give me the current owners details so what other methods are available (other than social media/ local papers etc) to try and locate it, if any??

Many thanks in advance.

KB.

It's perhaps stating the obvious, but if it is a classic car, or in any way collectable, then the owner's club or register is well worth a try.

Are you sure it's not a washing machine by now? But you could write to the DVLA saying they have parked on private property and want to send an invoice to the owner. They do sell details to parking companies, so why not you?

Hi,

Thanks for the replies. I sincerely hope that it isn't a Washing Machine, it really wouldn't be anywhere near as much fun to drive in that state!

biggrin

For the record, it was a 1981 Mini City in a sort of Orange/Brown Vomity kinda colour, I loved it but 19 year old "me" couldn't afford to restore it so had to sell. The People that I sold to performed a partial restoration & repainted it in a lovely Britsh Racing green with a white Roof. After seeing it I also turned a rather unfectching shade of green. It looked great!

I think a trawl through the Mini clubs (I imagine there are several) is the only legal way of doing it.

If it's been parked on your land and the number is recorded as scrapped, exported or stolen - need I go on?

If you are on Facebook you could join the 'Where in my classic mini?' group. I did but haven't tracked either of my old ones down.
