Speeding ticket but forgot to update address on license

Recently got a speeding ticket in a works vehicle, so the NIP was sent to the office and then to my current address.
Moved a few months back and it totally slipped my mind to update the address on my license, so still has my parent's address on it.

Just had a look on the gov website for updating the address on your license which can be done online but doesn't mention if you need to send your license card off, but you do need to send it off for the speeding ticket.

What's best to do in this situation, just send the NIP back with the license card, wait until that's done and then update the address, or update address first? Is it likely to be noticed that the address is wrong? Perhaps update the address online and leave a note in the envelope when I send the NIP back saying that the address has now been updated?

Anyone else had a similar situation? Think I'm just going to sort out the points first as above, has anyone ever actually been done for not having the right details? It's my parent's address on the license so it's not as if anything is going to get lost, most of my payslips etc... still end up there anyway.

O/T but with a photocard licence, why should it be necessary to send it away? It's not like they write your points on it with a ballpoint pen (like on my old-school paper licence).

Surely they should be able to add points on to the system, regardless of having the actual licence?

It's an additional security check that you have physical possession of the licence the points are going on rather than giving details of somebody else when you don't have possession of the licence.

I wouldn’t worry about the address being different if your parents still live at that address. The issue is when you move and have no access to the address anymore.

It won't be a problem. I moved into my OH's place at the start of lockdown, but my official address is my place. My employer was always sending crap in the post without telling me, so I told HR of my change of address.

Unfortunately I got zapped on the A1(M) in my company car and the NIP came to my OH's address. I just filled in the form, providing the correct address and a new NIP was sent to the same one as the one on my licence.
