Apple generated passwords
Discussion
Advice please on the above, I am trying to access my sky e mail yahoo on a PC with Windows dreadful 10. The password I use was generated by my Apple I pad but having no luck entering the password onto the PC
The password is in format abcd-efgh- .... do the dashes count as part of the password or just an aid to reading?

If you still have access to an Apple device you can see the passwords stored in the keychain.
Maybe look in there.
This is the main reason I NEVER allow them to self generate passwords.
I have a method which I remember which allows me to generate pseudo random passwords depending on the URL of the website. This way I can always work out what my password would be.

Thanks for response Mb140, why do you not let it supply passwords? If you do not know the access code to open the I pad then you cannot access the passwords in the list, or am I being naive?
Can a five year old hack into the I pad and access the passwords?
The reason I don’t let it supply random passwords is down to the fact that if I don’t have an Apple device on me then I can’t remember hundreds of random passwords. Hence if I wanted to login to a website I couldn’t without my Apple product on me. If I have a pseudo random way of generating my own codes then I can always work the password out without having access to a non Apple product. Can a five year old hack into the I pad and access the passwords?
Like for example the time recently when I walked down to my mums and left my phone at my dads place. Got to my mums and needed to retrieve some information from my email. If I had let Apple put some random Ashton-akfhsi-gkepm-hsdjfy in then there would have been no way to log in to the account.
Now because I use my own method (which I’m not going to discuss here) to generate my passwords then I can work it out.
Sorry I’m not really explaining this well. What I really mean is. If I let Apple store all the passwords in keychain (which I currently do but not random generated by Apple, there my own random way that I know how to work the password out). Then without an Apple device I have to remember them all.
Using my own method. I can access all my website/accounts/social media from any device in the world as I can work out the passwords (might take a minute or two but it can be done).
If you just have Apple generated random passwords stored in apples keychain how do you access your accounts/websites/social media from say a friends windows 10 laptop.
I suppose there are other multi platform password manager applications out there (1Password application springs to mind) that means you just need to remember 1 password for the password manager application but I’m not sure I like the idea of having all my passwords protected by 1 master password (having said that I suppose Apple keychain is just protected by 1 password.

Thanks for detailed answer MB140, most helpful.
We both have Apple phones and I pads cos it is one charger when we are on holiday so not having an Apple product when we go out is unlikely but I appreciate your comments above and will have a think about your recommendation.
Thanks again
