What were the M5s reading on the speedo when they hit 164 then? I thought they were limited to 155 but to have 2 limited (I presume) to 164 seems a bit odd.

The E39 speed was reading 165 when the car went through the trap at a recorded 164, it was still accellerating.

Don't know about the E60, although I do know the car hit the limiter a significant distance before the speed trap.

Daz, you must be impressed with how the X50 ran: 5mph over a GT2. Is it standard?

The E60 M5 was limited seemingly to 164 IIRC

SAM

The X50 is totally standard as it left the factory just over 3 years ago. The only non-standard item is an alloy gear shift linkage, following the the gearshift ball joint popping out the original plastic linkage back in august 2004 (details in my car history.)

Cheers 'gixer. Think the fact that i had a few extra yards from the time you went made all the difference! Congrats to the ultima! Looking forward to seeing the official results.

Happy with 154 - I only managed 149 last time out so it must have been a good one this time!

Paul, You'll need to bring the scoob next time

Happy to break a few Scoob cherries this time though and reaquaint a few others.

Come one Daz, DeR, are you seriously saying that you're not tempted by a 14k second hand P1?

Out of interest, how much of this do you think is down to the car & how much to the driver ?

Surely a standard GT2 would out-pull an X50, would it not (lighter, more powerful) ?

So, would the difference in speed not be down to the cornering speed, before the straight, i.e driver skill ?

WELL pleased with my 153. I honestly had no idea how fast the old girl would go.

Scarily, the 153 on the boards tallied with an indicated 153 on the speedo gotta love them Germans for accuracy....

I think the speed trap had gone by then, but I also managed about 32 with Hughesies car behind me

I don't think the corner speed will make that much difference, bear in mind Henry maxxed out at 188 in his GT2 and he's no slouch in the drivers skill department.
Daz's car is just a very fine example,he's not a bad driver also.

Karon my good lady wife managed 181.
I can't believe how much she enjoyed the day.
"this is more fun than Harvey Nicks, how can we make the car faster?"
