Wife's Huawei P20 is slowly failing. Battery life has taken a big dive and today the finger print reader packed up, seemingly for good. I've tried a few of the methods suggested on the internet but it seems like it's a dead duck.

So what to replace it with?

I thought P30 would be nice, but new are thin on the ground and quite pricey considering the age of the thing. P40 actually is cheaper more plentiful option but don't want to be doing the dance with getting and keeping Google services on it.

Could go used on the p30, but it's finding a good one with a battery that will have a lot of life left in it.

It absolutely must have the navigation buttons on the screen (think most Android flavours offer this now) and also have an the apps on the screen. Not in an app drawer. iPhone style. Don't ask why, I can't figure it out either.

I think there was only Huawei doing the all apps on the screen thing. Maybe Honor too?

Do you have any form of mobile cover with your bank?

I had a p20 and it was playing up.
Sent it away and they provided me with a new p30… all for the xs which was £25 at the time.

When my p30 starts causing me grief, I’ll pay the increased £5o xs and see what they will do for me,

Interested in this too, as my P20, whilst still performing well, is getting on a bit now, more than happy with it, but no idea what I'd replace it with when it does die ..... P40 again not a consideration due to Google issues as noted.

I had a mate 20x, and loved it for 3 years until i smashed it by accident, and have been trying to live with a samsung s21 ultra 256 since, and the samsung is a pile of horsest compared to the old huawei, so much so that i got the 20x repaired and after only 3 months i am going to sell the samsung. I do miss the 5g so just ordered a used but immaculate mate 20x 5g model.
I learned my lesson I am sticking with huawei, even if it needs some jiggery pokery for the play store on the newer models its worth it imo.

I was playing with a Mi 11 Lite 5G a few days ago at a Xiaomi store and it was a really impressive handset - not overly big (or didn't feel it) and felt "premium" in the hand. Screen and camera were both excellent too. I would certainly buy one if I was in the (android) market.
