Have gone and made Tuna & Mayo, from Soya hehe

9g of protein per 100g as opposed to 30g.

It might not apply to you but there does seem to be quite a bit of making plant-based food look and taste 'just like the real thing' as with sausages, steak and tuna to name a few.

For me, a sausage is made from meat. There is no substitute. I've tried the Linda McCartney ones (which are okay) as well as the Beyond offering and other vegan 'sausages'. They can never be substitutes. I've been weening myself off from meat for the past year now and I would say I'm 90-95% plant based now.

Yep its made from meat, once you remove that is ceases to be a sausage.

Make a god damn decision man.

None of this would bother me but a couple of weeks ago whilst in a hurry I picked up a sausage roll which was described as a sausage roll on the packaging and was on a shelf clearly marked sausage rolls.
When I bit into however, I was not greeted with the familiar deliciousness of pastry encased sausage meat, the ingredient that lends its name to the title of this wonderful snack, instead my mouth was filled with nothing more than herbs and disappointment.

So if you are complicit with this deviancy then you are complicit with making me unhappy and are my enemy.

Sausages are legally, iirc, 36%minimum meat content. So 64% other ingredients. Then we come down to the legal definition of meat. It includes all sorts of bks. One of the reasons I became mostly veggy is because the more I found out how meat products are produced, the more it revolted and disgusted me.

Haggis is lovely. It's also mostly veg and grain. I've had the vegetarian Haggis (in a pakora, in Edinburgh) and it was surprisingly delicious (as a light snack).

Another nice snack is fried cauliflower (but it the description of it is 'wing' ffs). Cauliflower wings 'KFC' style almost falls into the same category but it's a delicious snack in its own right and not a chicken wing replacement (other that it can look like one, and the batter/coating tastes very similar).

Have I just contradicted myself?

I think you might be comparing it to tuna in a can, not tuna & mayo.

Even so, if you compare tuno in springwater to tuna in water, you get less protein, more (than zero) carbs and more (than zero) sugar with the fake fish.

So that's a hard no from me, but if other people want to eat it, good for them.
