Not long ago he was being touted by some as a future PM - a safe pair of hands.
Reports emerging that he was asked by civil servants to personally make a call to his Afghan opposite number which he delegated to a junior minister and it seems it never happened.

Indeed, one has to wonder what Lord Goldsmith was doing, was he on holiday as well, it seems many in senior roles were. (Officials at the Foreign Office, the Home Office and the Ministry of Defence)dmahon said:

He was on holiday with his two children on the 13th August I believe. Just the UK media usual summer time game of trying to break up Minister's holidays. See poor old Javid dragged off holiday a couple of years back for migrant boats, as if he had any power to stop it.

To me it's pretty simple.
In the middle of the biggest foreign policy crisis in recent years the Foreign Secretary felt his time was best spent on a beach in Crete.
The Prime Minister also had to be dragged back off holiday apparently.
Troops at an airport risking their lives to try to save people left who've risked theirs and those of their families to help us.
For Raab and Johnson's part in this it's lions led by donkeys.
To me it's pretty simple.

He should have rushed back and saved the day? If he was here we wouldn't have needed troops at the airport?To me it's pretty simple.

If its not within his remit/ abilities to help why come back at all- why not make a statement saying nothing he can do but the Military are doing their best?
