Shipping a watch over from Aus
Discussion
I won a watch that is being shipped over from Australia and I'm trying to figure out what I am going to have to pay import/taxes etc, I just keep seeing different numbers I have no idea.
Its somewhere between 2.5-3K AUS$ shipped with insurance and tracking.
I am presuming its not going to be cheap, but can anybody help getting closer to an actual number?

“There is no import duty on watches imported to the UK from non-EU countries. Only VAT is charged, currently 20% of the declared value. (Many other imported items are charged duty as well as VAT - camera equipment for example).”

From my dim and distant memory of commerical importing many years ago the VAT is levied on the total landed cost so (declared value + shipping cost) x 20%. I imagine insured courier from Aus may not be insignificant.“There is no import duty on watches imported to the UK from non-EU countries. Only VAT is charged, currently 20% of the declared value. ”

If you dont fancy paying the import fees i'll cover them and give you an extra few hundred quid for it......
I'm hoping it fits me but I have been browsing other watches I could buy incase it doesn't.
I could choose any watch up to about £1800, hoping my skinny wrist doesn't ruin it for me! Haha

If the watch is designed for the Australian market then wont the hour markers be 180 degrees out?
6 at the top and 12 at the bottom?
Yes, but you can compensate by turning the strap inside out, so you wear the watch with the face touching your wrist & the back of the watch showing.6 at the top and 12 at the bottom?
