I have no real idea why, but I found myself wondering which PHer knows the tallest person.

I'll start...

I used to work with a chap (15 years ago) who was 6'10" in his socks (we measured him hehe) plus I worked with a guy last year who is 6'7".

Certainly not me...

Although I too have worked with a person who was 6'10" we looked comical walking next to each other!

Used to know a 7 footer, no idea where he is now - blending in with the lamp posts somewhere, probably.

Me. I'm 6'8''.

I met Josh West from British Rowing a few years ago, I think he's about 6'10''. Very decent chap. As you'd expect, all tall people are.

Did some work in a British Legion Club years ago and a couple of the regulars who were ex Coldstream Guards (I think, it's 30 plus years ago) were a good few inches taller than me and I'm 6ft 4. I don't expect they are around now but if they were they would be way over 100 years old

I have a work colleague who again is a good few inches taller than me, I think 6ft 9. We have a somewhat less tall colleague, when stood on a chair he still isn't as tall as 'Mr Tall'

On an unrelated note, my old bosses dog once tried to cock it's leg on my ankle to have a piss hehe . I got out of the way in time.

I remember my mate stopping to chat with a young bloke as for the first time in his adult life he was shorter than someone.
My mate is 7' 1", this chap was a good couple of inches taller.

It seems to me that 6'6" is the very top end of normal and not that rare, everyone knows atleast a couple of people that tall.

6'7"+ seems exponentially rarer, I only personally know one person 6'7".

The tallest person I've ever seen was just randomly wandering down Las Ramblas in Barcelona, I'd estimate he was atleast 7'6", most people stopped and looked as he walked past, he was a bizarre sight, much more than "oh look at that tall guy over there".

I work with a guy who is around 6’6”. He just clears the doorways.
The world we live in is not designed for anybody much taller.

My friend Al is 6'10, size 16 feet.

Last year he and his Father went halfers on a classic car.

An MGB.

He looks hilarious in it.

I've seen a few randoms in the street who must have been pushing 7' but the tallest I know is a mate at work who is 6'8". I'm a shorty by PH standards at just over 6' but it's strange to have to look up to make eye contact with someone.

I'm 6'2 and yeah it always feels strange having to look up to someone, I can't say I know anyone freakishly tall though.

An old mate of mine was 6'4". He was from a family of very tall people and during his childhood was regularly measured by doctors. I was informed by my mate that his measurements as a child suggested he was going to be taller than his 7'1" grandfather so medical intervention was required. Lovely lovely chap too.

You've got me worried, I'm the shortest of 8 males of my generation in my family at 6'4" and two of my cousins have died in the last couple of years. (We're all in our fifties)
Although my uncle just died last year at 90, and he was 6'10".

I'm also 6'2", but I live in the Netherlands so am only just above average height hehe Hotel mirrors tend to be at a more useful height here than in some countries though.
