JLR Job Salary bands
Discussion
Interesting - In 20 years employment and 4 publicly traded US companies i have never experienced anything but the utmost scecrey around salary bands. Usually only certain levels of management have access to the xls showing the facts for fear of a workers revolt when Dave realises Cheryl makes more than him.

Many thanks H0b0. I hadn’t thought to look there ??
Stupidly I assumed that as per most public ally quoted corporations there is a clear defined pay/salary scale structure in place that is publicised. Apologies for my ignorance
There isn’t for listed companies but glassdoor is a reasonable start point.Stupidly I assumed that as per most public ally quoted corporations there is a clear defined pay/salary scale structure in place that is publicised. Apologies for my ignorance
However it is historical and if you have niche hot skills it might undervalue the role. (Especially tech related)

Yup.I have access to some of ours but the master database is very closely guarded.
Interesting. Only worked for 2 large (FTSE100, Financial Services) companies, back in the turn of the century through mid-noughties, but both had fully documented, transparent graded career paths with salary bandings, and the effects of appraisal ratings. Freely available as part of the staff handbooks.
Never really thought much about it, but assumed, naively it seems, that this openness would be required as part of any drive to demonstrate equality in a large, mature organisation.

Internally published bands, maybe. Not externally published, as it would still be sensitive data.Never really thought much about it, but assumed, naively it seems, that this openness would be required as part of any drive to demonstrate equality in a large, mature organisation.
Glassdoor gives a reasonable approximation for larger companies.

Nope. It’s not common at all. Never really thought much about it, but assumed, naively it seems, that this openness would be required as part of any drive to demonstrate equality in a large, mature organisation.

Public Sector pay grades/bands are almost always available on the Internet. Even if they weren't you would be able to FOI them.Stupidly I assumed that as per most public ally quoted corporations there is a clear defined pay/salary scale structure in place that is publicised. Private sector organisations aren't usually officially available and probably a good thing as it would cause a lot of internal problems. Nobody likes to feel that they're worth less to the Company than somebody else in a similar role.

Also bands can overlap and be very wide in upper grades.Private sector organisations aren't usually officially available and probably a good thing as it would cause a lot of internal problems. Nobody likes to feel that they're worth less to the Company than somebody else in a similar role.
And people who have been TUPEd could be on different terms.
Bands can also be misleading as the OTE and overall package (other benefits) is a better indicator.
