I’ve got home in my newly purchased (as stated in the ad) Miami Blue 2014 Boxster (28k on the clock so still nice and crisp). On the way home, a long drive that necessitated a stop, I grabbed the instruction book to look something and noticed that someone had written ‘Olympic Blue 981 on the front. And it hit me. Of course it’s not Miami, totally the wrong shade. To be fair to me I bought it on the basis of exterior photos, in a hurry, and never thought to check. Even when I picked it up my mind was on other things, and I just went with it (and it wouldn’t have put me off the purchase in any case). I knew it was a Sample To Colour paint job, but hadn’t looked beyond that to validate that it was actually Miami (which I really wanted at the time).
So I’ve looked it up, and I note Olympic Blue was last used as a standard colour in 1974 (the 914 looks knockout painted in that colour). Which I suspect makes it somewhat rarer than Miami? Not that I really care, but I’m always curious about this stuff. So I wondered if anyone can shed any light on Porsche stats re colour by model and year? It’d be nice to know if it’s a properly rare thing or just uncommon.
Thanks, Tony.

There is only one Olympic Blue Gt4 in the world...So I’ve looked it up, and I note Olympic Blue was last used as a standard colour in 1974 (the 914 looks knockout painted in that colour). ...and it strikes me yours might be the only Olympic Blue 981 Boxster in the world. It looks amazing, congratulations.
I prefer it over the Miami....got more of a heritage vibe about it.
it stems from the 914 model in 1973,1974
Because it is so heritage it seems only a handful of cars have been approved for use of this PTS colour, again making me think yours is a one of one in the entire world.

Exclusive to the 914 in terms of standard Porsche production cars. Shared with VW models though according to Rennbow.
I’m surprised they only rank it two cans in terms of rarity. Given it was only on the 914 for a short period?

No offence to any Miami owners but it’s one of my least favourite recent colours in the range these days, something just doesn’t add up with it to me.
This Olympic blue however-gorgeous! More photos needed op.
Miami looks great in the sun, somewhere like Miami for example! In this country it just doesn't do it for meThis Olympic blue however-gorgeous! More photos needed op.
That Olympic colour though - very nice
I bought what I thought was a seal grey 996. On closer investigation once home its PTS Slate Grey. Also missed that it has tequipment gear knob and hand brake handle - double bonus!
Fabulous looking Boxster in that colour. Would look nice next to the Givenchy Pink one :-)

Shhh! If my wife finds out she will become somewhat exercised at the thought of it. This ‘Tiffany Blue’ example already has her in a state of some excitement….Fabulous looking Boxster in that colour. Would look nice next to the Givenchy Pink one :-)

Miami Blue wasn’t in production in 2014….IIRC it was first a 991.2 colour ?
Nice find though ! Looks great. Unfortunately Porsche don’t release details of paint to sample production numbers or which cars have been made but it’s probably a 1 of 1 in the UK at least. Olympic Blue isn’t one of those PTS colours that has almost become a default choice like Mexico or Voodoo which is great ! And it’s a historical Porsche colour unlike Voodoo which is a Toyota colour.

So that would be £77k.
Think it’s a keeper though…fttb at least.

Yes, with the joy of hindsight I wonder why I thought it could be Miami as I was well aware that Miami only came to Boxster with the 718. And the original purchaser must have been a discerning and clued up individual.Nice find though ! Looks great. Me too…put the colour into Pinterest and there’s literally nothing other than 714s. Put in Gulf Blue (a three can colour) and there’s loads of ‘em. Might drop them a polite line.Exclusive to the 914 in terms of standard Porsche production cars. Shared with VW models though according to Rennbow.
