What luxo-barges would you say are largely forgotten now?

Remember these?:

Hyundai Sonata, 1989-1993

I remember these in the 1990s and 2000s as taxis now and then.

Nissan 300C - long before the Chrysler of the same name came here.

Vauxhall Royale - probably long-forgotten, and the Insignia Grand Sport's the closest thing to one nowadays:

Although, saying that, the coupe was pretty decent-looking:

Bit like a sort of larger Toyota Celica-style coupe.

Then there's these:

Mitsubishi Sigma, one of the few Australian cars sold here other than Holden V8s:

Remember those with the 3.0 V6 that had 202bhp, which nowadays would probably be an entry-level V6 before you got to the higher-performance models? We didn't even get the luxury 30R-SE 4WD model or the smaller 2.5 V6.

Finally, one that's now-forgotten, but technically not a luxo barge, given you couldn't buy it in a showroom, the Woodall Nicholson Granada, with coachbuilt body:

Also from them, the Woodall Nicholson Kirklees, an Austin Princess hatchback:

Finally, from the 1990s, the Audi V8, which was like an enlarged 100:

As a kid growing up in the 1990s, I liked the Audi, even if it was a case of "photocopy the 100's body and enlarge it", but I guess that was the thing with German manufacturers of the era, the Russian doll thing.

I haven't seen one of those for years now - the A8's probably more common.

Behold, the Mazda Xedos 9. Only sort of 5 Series-sized so not a proper barge, but fairly close I suppose. Definitely largely forgotten, probably even when new.

It was sort of like a Jag in styling wasn't it? - well before the S and X-Type came out.

Just checked Autotrader prices which seem to range from £40-100k
There is a 2011 one going for £456,000 must be a typo.

That was the xedos 6. Lovely looking thing in its time and would have made an excellent styling study for Jaguar.

Alfa 6. Launched years after the car was supposedly production ready. Early round headlamp models had a bit of a BMW vibe to them. I actually quite like the design, although UK sales were predictably dire.

And of course, the Talbot Tagora...

It's not so much 'largely forgotten', more a case of 'never knew existed'.

Most people are unlikely to have seen, never mind owned or ridden in many of the cars shown here as they were niche models. You can't forget what you didn't know about in the first place; there are smaller cars that fall into the same category - Kia Venga anyone?

Renault 25, although I seem to remember they weren't uncommon when I was growing up.

The Sarfrane on the other hand was pretty rare even when new.

The Royale was of course sold alongside the Opel Senator and Monza; the Senator didn't get a Vauxhall badge until well into the 80s.

The Safrane Biturbo was a bit of legend back in the day, 258hp was pretty impressive in the early 90s (if you pretend the Lotus Carlton never existed).

Ventora
I used to see an old one of those in Wigan/Leigh area a lot in the 1990s and 2000s, in a yellow colour.

Haven't seen that one for years; I initially thought it was a Viva LWB until I learnt about the Ventora in the 2000s.

My old man had a brand new one as a company car, back in the day.

I remember on our family outing maiden voyage, poking and prodding around in the back with my brother, and one of the rear window winders came off in my hand! hehe

I liked the 827 Sterling and Vitesse back in the day. However I then bought a used 827 Vitesse and it was the most unreliable heap of junk I’ve ever owned. They also rotted in the seams.

Toyota Century, Japan's only production car with a V12, as far as I'm aware.

Although largely forgotten because it was never officially imported is probably the most accurate description.
