In trying to remove the dashboard top cover, I found the 2 no. X passenger's side dash securing bolts/nuts ok, but don't seem to be able to locate the driver's side (RHD)?

I removed the air vent and can see a 10mm bolt drilled through the door body, terminating with its head in the outer door shut area - is this the 3rd bolt??

Fast replies appreciated!

Many thanks.

You can make getting the drivers side out and back in easier in future by shortening the stud a bit.

On my Chimara I never bothered refitting the bolt to the stud on the driver's side. The others held the dash top in without any issues and made it much easier to remove each time I needed to get in there.

I never found getting the wing nuts on any trouble.

The difficult bit for me was always getting the drivers side stud clear of the hole. Have to be careful to not to scratch or tear the leather.

On my last Chimaera, I did this as well. The addition of wingnuts makes the process easier, and simpler to identify which bolt is which if you need to do it again.....

As well as cutting about 10 mm off the driver's side stud, I took a hacksaw to the left hand studs and shortened them by a few mm. Made refitting slightly easier and less likely to scratch the front edge of the lower dash. smile
