Distance buying.. driven delivery or low loader?

Dealer delivered my Mercedes by driving it to me then collecting a hire car i wasn't given the choice.

What's the issue with it being driven to you OP, its a used car so it's obviously been driven a fair amount already?

My C Class was in Scotland and the dealer met me half way at a branch... That was still a three hour drive for me...
My E Class I just drove to the dealer and drove the car back as it was a three hour drive....

My sister bought a car a few months ago.

It was at a dealer about 50 miles away so I went with her to view it.

She decided to buy it and they offered a choice of collecting it ar they would deliver, so it made sense to save ourselves another trip and have it delivered.

Someone drove it to her on trade plates. She checked it over and he walked down to the local station.

Worked very well. I'm not sure how having it delivered on a transporter would have been any better!

My view is that if it’s driven to you, at least it’s capable of getting their under it’s own steam which can only be a positive thing.

I had a brand new s3 on lease a few years ago, guy drove it from London to Glasgow and put 550 miles on it before I even got it.

Way I looked at it was he had already done half my running in process. Most of the delivery drivers are careful and will take it easy to ge the car to you in best condition.

Infiniti used a transporter to move my Jaguar XF from their Leeds branch to their Glasgow branch and I was happier with this after seeing how previous cars had been treated by various dealership staff which included eating lunch in it, doing the local shopping run, booting it whilst cold, general joyriding and flying over speedbumps and buckling an alloy.

Unlike previous owners it's not their car, so perhaps a greater chance they won't care.

In which case I would have it driven. I can’t see any benefit to it being transporter delivered which is worth paying extra for.

I really cant see it being an issue.

- 90mins mileage is going to do bugger all to the value of any car you plan to use.
- I would assume in both instances the car is covered for damage in transit.

Another +1 here on driven. Had mine driven from Cambridge to Preston which is about 4 hours. Guy drove back in my PX. Was an old(ish) chap, got the impression he took it steady and listened to radio 4.

Yes, i was happy with the outcome the sales guy delivered it personally and he was a decent chap. Plus as you know you have the 14 days rejection in place also.

Driven shouldn't be an issue, I'd request the driver doesn't pop in for a quick car wash though. Had a leased Juke Nismo previously and the driver put 2 large scratches in it from a petrol station jet wash.
