Wiring Diagrams and harness anchors
Discussion
Just got hold of my first Griff. 1992 500 (One happy chappy)
Can anyone point me in the direction of getting hold of a wiring diagram as I have a few little things to check out.
I intend on using my little beaut on track days and am looking to fit 5 / 6 point harnesses. Does anyone have any pointers on anchor points ? Photos would be especially welcome
Hope to see a few of you chaps out and about in the next few months (assuming it doesn't break down TOO often)
Thanks in anticipation

Steve Heath's book on the Chimaera/Griffith includes a wiring diagram and a wealth of practical information gleaned from owners of the years. It really is a 'must have' for any owner considering any form of DIY.
As far as harnesses go, you can replace the existing lap strap mounts with eye bolts to clip the harness on (you'll need 1.5" bolts not the standard 0.75" ones that will come with the harness). The rear straps will attach to the rear stay of the rollover bar. The crutch strap also clips onto the lap strap eye bolts, assuming you have a seat with the required hole.

Not wishing to worry you, but they didn't make the 500 'til '93 - hopefully a typo (or an engine swap). It's important to be sure though as the 500 chassis has roll bar/harness mounts, the 4/4.3 does not.

I believe the 500 (if that's what it is) has a single rear harness mount each side, under the 'parcel shelf' on the chassis above the diff. If it's a 4ltr or 4.3 you need to get a Tower View roll bar fitted which will give you two mounting points just behind each seat on the rear vertical tube of each side of the roll bar.
Cheers Griffter
You were spot on with an engine change
Has a 2002 5 ltr Serpentine motor that has covered 5000 mls. T5 box and changed diff.
I guess that means I'm stuffed with the harnesses then. Don't really want a roll bar if poss and chassis is bound to be the one without mounting points.
Looks like I'm stuck with the 3 point then
Cheers for the input though

A harness is well worth fitting because it improves your ability to control the vehicle (as well as safety benefits). BUT I strongly advise against fitting a harness unless you have adequate rollover protection, which you don't have unless you add a rollover bar. A harness with no rollover protection is a lethal combination if you ever roll the car, because the harness stops you rolling away from an impact with the ground.

Totaly agree, I actualy took the one out that was in mine when I got it for that very reason.
