Geographical places you would never buy from

I thought exactly the same as you, but I had a great experiece with a dealer from keighley who is a PHer and has some very nice cars, and were straight and honest and easy to deal with. He was rightly unhappy that his proximity to a certain other local dealer unfairly affected peoples perception of his business.
We had a cracking meal at a village pub just outside keighley as well so cant complain at all.

Naming is allowed on PH when positive. :-)

Scotland.
A car that's endured 10 Scottish winters will most of the time be in worse condition underneath than one that's experienced 10 England winters.
While I agree to an extent, living near Aberdeen and having gone as far as London for cars, it’s not as clear cut as that. A car that's endured 10 Scottish winters will most of the time be in worse condition underneath than one that's experienced 10 England winters.
What about the North of England? They get much the same winter weather as us with the resulting corrosion issues.
If I’m travelling to buy a car I’ll usually go to areas around London. Easy flights down, high population density so loads of cars and proper soft southern weather. The down side is that it’s a pain if anything goes wrong with the car shortly after purchase.
Having said that newer cars seem to be far better protected from salt than ones from over 10 years ago. Even cheap French stuff doesn’t seem to rust up here any more.
To answer the OP question, keighley and Bradford will have me looking at the next advert.
I bought my old 330 from a chap in Birmingham; nice bloke and the car was really really good. It was one of the better second hand cars I’ve bought in terms of reliability.
I’m less put off my geography than I am by things like the drivers seat in a ridiculous position as usually favoured by idiots. I tend to skip passed cars that have advert pictures taken in random car parks as well.

Without necessarily any reason, except prejudices. So when you are searching for cars you ignore / skip ones in these areas. For me, Keighley (obvs), Wales, & to a lesser extent Scotland - but that’s more a distance thing.
I live in London.
I live in SW London and once bought a car from a chap just outside Inverness. I live in London.
I found the name of the garage who serviced it and had a good chat with them.
It was on for £8k, over the phone we settled on £3.2k. It had been on the market for a while and was an unusual car.
I flew to Aberdeen then a train to the small town that the fella lived in. We sat in his house and talked cars for a couple of hours then I got the keys.
Had a 3 day trip enjoying the car, the Highlands and the trip back.
I’m in Manchester. I’d avoid anywhere inner city Manchester, plenty of dodgy types there.
Then I’d also avoid any seaside towns, as well as Birmingham, Bradford, Leicester, London.
But then actually a lot of that becomes moot, because I wouldn’t travel more than say 5 hours round trip for a car, unless I was certain the car would be in great condition and it was something special. So a huge chunk of the country is missing then.
