Hi all,

Currently have a Honor 8x which I cant stop dropping lately. Owned it for 3 years and was in perfect condition up to 2 months ago but as all four corners are now cracked and held together with nail varnish it's time for a new phone. My requirements are that it needs to be 5g, the most latest version of Android as possible, apps downloaded via Playstore, 128gb of storage / or allow a micro card. £400 limit.

Prefer to go for some of China's finest than pay the Samsung tax. I like the HUAWEI P30 Pro but these dont use Playstore anymore which would be painful.

So far the POCO F3 5g - £350 on Amazon looks to be the best.

Thoughts / suggestions ?

I like the Moto G range . I see they have moved a bit more upmarket with the Moto G100 at £399.
No direct experience of that particular handset.

I was given one of these as an "upgrade" to my current work OnePlus 6. I hated it from the second I took it out of the box so I put it away and have stuck with the OnePlus 6.

I too have an Honor 8X as my personal phone, you sound exactly like me in wanting the most Chinese bang for your buck in a phone.

My phone is working perfectly but I am always on the look for the next one, I would personally go for the Redmi Note 10 Pro. 6.7 inch AMOLED screen, 6GB RAM, 128GB Storage all for £229

Edited to say that phone is not 5G, if you want 5G then I think the POCO F3 is the best choice and the 8GB Ram, 256GB storage one is only £309 on the POCO site. Tempted to get one myself now.....

I'd vote for the Redmis too. Really pleased with my Note 9 Pro bought a few months back.

P30 Pro still has Google Play (I've got one). P40 Pro onwards does not

Cheers guys.

Apologies, I meant the P40 being non playstore.

I reckon I will pull the pin and get a POCO F3 Pro. Thanks for the link as this is the cheapest Ive seen. :-)

EDIT - The MI.com website / company has terrible reviews. I might buy elsewhere.

If your wanting something that will be supported for a fair few years you need a Pixel device.

I have the Pixel 5 which is 5G, this is due for replacement soon so will drop in price, there is also the 4A 5G which has been replaced by the 5A 5G.

Either get 2nd hand, refurbed or direct from Google (they offer 0% these days)
