He's been living off it for years - money is now running dry so wants to do a cash grab.

Fairly sure he's got a tattoo of the picture and has recreated the scene more than once during his life. I can see why it has caused him angst.

He wants at least $150k each from 15 people. I suspect this is purposely aimed at a level where the 15 are likely to think it's cheaper than paying lawyers and less hassle to just pay him out and he's on a no win no fee 50:50 split with the lawyer representing him.

The fact he has as an adult willingly participated in recreations of the photo tells me this is BS. Also I assume his parents were paid for the photo at the time.

Still it did remind me to go play the album again....nevermind

Definitely this. Some smooth-talking Lionel Hutz will have convinced him that there is money to be made and to just sign this piece of paper here...et viola, you're in the papers and hoping for somebody to throw some money at them to make him go away.

Elden has recreated the album cover several times as a teenager and adult - always wearing swimming trunks - to mark Nevermind's 10th, 20th and 25th anniversaries.
It's affected him that much, he's recreated it 3 other times rolleyes

If it had been me, I would have sued the living daylights out of everyone involved, probably including my parents, at the earliest opportunity, and demanded that the photo was destroyed and never to be reprinted or displayed ever again.

I might not have won anything, but thats what I would have done.

As for this chap, I think he's probably just decided that there may be some cash available and has decided to go for it with the help of an ambulance-chasing lawyer. Fair play to him I say, why not take every penny he can by making up some stuff about being exploited. The image is famous, and he might as well try to get paid if he can.
