Patek Phillipe Steel Aquanaut
Discussion
I know there is a lot of talk about Rolex premiums, but has anyone seen this?

Lovely watch, very understated but wow.

I've mentioned it before but I'll say it again. I do not get the appeal of the Aquanaut or the Nautilus. Not one single bit.
To my eyes, they are horribly dated, odd, ugly, 70's looking things.
You can tell I'm not a fan
Patek make loads of extremely nice watches, yet every man and his dog seem obsessed with the Aquanaut and Nautilus.

I was trying to resist, but I just can't. Yep, completely agree with all of that, I don't understand the admiration at all - in my head Patek is more about beautiful complicated watches in precious metal. Admittedly towards the lower end of their complications, I have a 5205, which is far more to my taste, but what do I know, a variety of opinion is good! To my eyes, they are horribly dated, odd, ugly, 70's looking things.

I don't know who pointed out the non-matching date windows but they really stand out to me now. Only got hacking movements in 2019... something people b
h about on Seikos costing low three figures.
edit: I acknowledge that my opinion on these is entirely academic as I am never going to own one, and the prices are so high now that I cannot reasonably compare them to watches I do own. They don't appeal to me anyway.

I had the chance to buy a 5711 at list, tried it on and thought what is the fuss about. It was a white dial one and honestly just didn't "get" it.To my eyes, they are horribly dated, odd, ugly, 70's looking things.

I got an Aquanaut instead which I kept a year before moving it on last year, it just didn't do much for me. I think I liked the fact I had a Patek a lot more than I actually liked the watch.
The Nautilus versus a Royal Oak is just a complete walkover in my opinion, the AP is leaps and bounds ahead.
All subjective of course. But in summary - I agree!
