I have an external 13 amp power socket on the outside of my garage. It is a spur off a ring. I would like to be able to control it remotely so that it cannot be used without my knowledge, so replacing it with an IoT socket will be no good as all of those that I can find can be switched on at the socket itself. Ideally I would like to replace the junction box from the ring with an IoT box, but cannot find anything that does that. My electronic/Arduino skills are not up to manufacturing my own.

The closest I can find is a simple one-way smart lighting switch which I could insert into the spur cable, inside the garage. I would probably go for the Meross 10amp switch as I already the Meross app. Is there anything wrong with that plan, or is there a better solution ?

Stick a lockable box around it smile

I suspect I’m missing something but don’t you just want one of these?

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Waterproof-Weatherproof-E...

ETA or maybe not .. one of the reviews says the outer box has a power switch on it. Not obvious from the pics or the description though. Disconnect/glue the switch smile

Could you replace the junction box with a switched fused spur & just turn it off manually?

That's exactly the sort of thing I'm looking for (why couldn't I find it - poor google skills, I guess). Very mixed reviews, and it will be yet another IoT app on my phone (already have Meross, Govee and UbiBot)

That would involve me getting up off the couch.

Locked weatherproof enclosure on the current socket. Smart passthrough socket on there, with a short ip64 socket off that. My tp-link work through Google Home, and Iassume they work through Alexa etc as well.
