Standards are slipping..
Looks pretty grim but so far their strengthened flood defences (post Katrina) seem to be preventing another flood.

As to the worst/hottest since whenever, all this shows is that it was worse / hotter on or before whenever, so better now, the opposite message to that intended. Those opportunists abusing weather and suffering to push this spin hope that people won't think.
