Hello all,

New to the forum and Aston ownership. Turned 30 recently and decided I NEEDED an Aston! Been involved in motorsport all my life, cars and bikes.

Due to collect her in the next two weeks. 4.7 N420.

Very excited to say the least!

Haha, on this forum isn’t it the ‘custard test’? Or atleast that’s what I’m lead to believe…. I’ll get the missus to grab some birds for collection!

I adore this car in every way and can’t wait to do some euro touring in it.

I have no idea what that means, the birds custard thing is famous throughout the internet lands but I feel I need enlightening regarding Andy Palmer thing ? Ha

Mines number 250 (coupe). Any further info on the n420’s is always welcomed

Thank you for mentioning 250.
On my Limited Edition table, there has been doubt about the correct figure. Now we know it must be 252.

Here is some background to the AP reference.

When the latest Vantage was unveiled, the design was considered by many to be quite a radical change, whereas many traditional Aston Martin owners had been used to rather more discrete understated designs, which are instantly recognised as Aston Martins.
The CEO at the time, Andy Palmer said the new Vantage, would attract a huge number of orders from, "new younger customers".
Andy Palmer's plan for the replacement model, did not quite turn out as he expected though. On here, we wondered just how many youngsters might have a spare £140,000 (with options) to spend on what is often used as a non-essential weekend 'toy'.
The dealers became overstocked, so there was then a desperate scheme to offer the new cars for £1,000 deposit and 23 payments of £1,000. Quite a bargain which also included free initial road tax (£1,910) and free servicing. Two years use of a new (in some cases) £140,000 car, for only £24,000. That scheme, which was available for two months, became very expensive for Aston Martin.

Your generation Vantage did attract younger buyers than previously, simply because it was an additional Aston Martin model, in a new lower cost segment. Lower prices of course puts the product in reach of more customers. It became the best selling car in Aston Martin's history.

Ahh, okay. Makes sense.

See image below also, rather than just trusting the word of ‘some guy from the internet’

I guess it depends how AM numbered the cars. It could be that the coupe’s and the roasters are lumped in to the numbering? Meaning it’ll be rather difficult to work it out?
Or is there a #1 coupe and #1 roaster I wonder?

I was just about to edit the table, when your point also occurred to me.
The author of astonmartins.com is an authoritative source, so 180 Coupes is very likely to be correct (thereby making the number of Roadsters unknown). If so, then the individual car numbering must be combined for Coupes and Roadsters.
Should you ever find the correct information, please let me know.

When compiling that table, we always had the feeling that there are inevitably going to be a few errors.

Got mine, 4.7 but not a 420, just over a year ago from same dealer. No real issues since other than a couple of trim details (it is a 12 year old car now...) . Enjoy it, they are best driven often (that's the wisdom on here, and my practical experience... When not able to drive it for a week or two for whatever reason it's a painful experience!) BTW, get a trickle charger, that was a good tip on here!

I plan on doing some euro road trips with mine. So despite the fact it’ll be babied and garaged, it won’t be a garage queen!
