991.2 Turbo S tyres - another what tyre thread?
Discussion
Hi all,
I really have searched quite diligently on the above but can’t find definitive and up to date answers…
Car is on its original Pirellis and rears showing uneven wear on inside edge. Plenty across main contact area so I guess might mean alignment is off. Road use only.
Tyres are only 10,500 miles from new and 4 ish years old.
I am going to need 2X rears soonish so may just change all four and check alignment etc.
Pirelli zeros seem to range from £335 up to £600+ for rears?
I’ve previously stuck to Michelin Pilot Sports - various incarnations - for previous non turbo 911.
Help!!
I will never track/race or test the limits of this thing so looking for best all round tyre with longevity and winter performance high on my list….
Any ideas??
Older threads talk about 997.2 Turbos and MPS4 without N rating - Michelin must have got their act together by now as I see some with N ratings but (to my eye) identical tyres without?
OPC is an option but not a necessity?
Any help, ideas or comments greatly appreciated.

I replaced the Pirelli's on my 991s with Michelin PS4 S's (tyre sizes 245/35/20 front 305/30/20 rears)
I found the Michelin's to be a massive improvement, better grip, quieter, less crabbing in cold weather much better in the wet and fine through winter, they also lasted a lot longer.
rang several OPC's at the time and was getting best price of around the £1100 mark for a full set fitted
they are N1 rated by the way and fully compliant with Porsche warranty
ended up going to a local trusted tyre fitter who quoted just over £900 fitted which is hard to ignore and OPC couldn't get anywhere near.

Thanks! That’s great info. I found the Michelin's to be a massive improvement, better grip, quieter, less crabbing in cold weather much better in the wet and fine through winter, they also lasted a lot longer.

Is yours a Turbo S? You do mention ‘S’
Thx again. This sounds the way I would prefer to go. The Pirellis crab terribly at low speed especially when cold!! The first few times, I got out to check I wasn’t missing something ……
