No more M & S suits

Marks and Spencers are ceasing to stock suits at most of it's stores. I very rarely wear a suit these days, never mind buy one. But every time I have bought one in last 20 years it's been M & S.

Wear else is suitable for a middle aged suit buyer who only wears a suit when he has to, but doesn't want to look like a 25 year old estate agent or like someone with more money than sense?

Try no to worry. Marks will still sell suits at a number of stores. So the "rare" ocassions when you need to buy one, you will still be able to get one. You may have to travel a bit further, that's all.

I used to wear suits for work and have bought a few at M&S.

Only wear one for weddings and funerals now - last one I got a few years ago was from Charles Tyrwhitt but I appreciate their stores are somewhat less prolific than M&S. I wouldn’t fancy buying online.

Slaters mens wear is the best I've found recently for a decent selection, better than the last suit I bought from M&S too quality wise.

I tried Moss Bros and they seemed to only do slim fit fashion suits now which dont fit me at all.

It's cheap, looks it and the trousers are too big.

The sale at your local department store. Then get it tailored to fit you - it's not massively expensive.

Reiss sale is worth a look. Their suiting is not bad, but you wouldn't pay full retail for it. NEXT is OK but you WILL be wearing the same suit as the 25 year old estate agent, albeit that you won't wear it so tight or with the trousers 6 inches above your shoes.

But the secret, if there is one, is to buy a half decent suit and then have it professionally tailored to fit properly.

I haven't worn anything from M&S for many years, because their clothing is crap IMHO.
