So there’s been a lot of change in my life this year which has in part resulted in me downsizing from a 2018 Volvo XC90 T8 to a 2019 Audi RS5. I’ve been promising myself something fast for years, although the Volvo had a slightly comical turn of pace (when the battery was charged). I absolutely love the RS5, fast and luxurious but 3 months in and I find myself in need of something with more load space for dog, tip trips and so on. I quite fancy an older “cool” 4x4, budget up to 5k. Any ideas?

P38 Range Rover.

They’ll pay you to take it; and after a few months, it’ll snap you out of your midlife crisis thus saving you money and shame later on!

Ask me how I know…

If you are in the grip of a MLC then an estate seems an unlikely choice wink

But if you are having a practical type of crisis, then just get a Kia or something.

Maybe sell a kidney or two

I'd forget aabout a "Cool" 4x4 for your budget and i'd buy something like a Ford Galaxy or the Seat or VW versions as a tip car dog car etc, take the rear seats out and it's got van like capacity and keep your RS5 for the other stuff

Very reliable, the only problem I've had was a crankshaft position sensor.. otherwise just general maintenance.

Some good Grand Cherokees around too.. and for your budget you could get a smart V8.

Why not get an RS4 Avant instead?

My first pick is a bit of a brave pill because of the mileage apart from that it's a very nice SUV:

Subaru Tribeca not the best looking but a very good nice spacious SUV:
