Evening all. I’ve got an X5 40e which is great. Putting mountain bikes in, my large dog (Doberman) and also filling it with stuff from the builders merchants kills me.

After a 2nd car under 5k to fulfill the above duties and also do some camping in (roof tent?). Considering a Range Rover classic, Shogun SWB or a van. Any other ideas? My drive isn’t too wide so sun-2000mm width if possible.

Someone was raving about the Dacia Duster on here a few days ago. Feel like that may tick a few of your boxes

I recall the Dacia thread. Think there was another one where a chap had some fancy metal including an E Type but loved the Dacia. I want to start doing some hillclimbs and track days too. They any good for towing?

Dacia is a good call (I've got one) It's a bit too good though for turning into an utter craphole I use a medium size hatch (hyandai)it's surprising what fits into a car you don't give a rats arse about.

I dont think you can beat having a van, If you've already got a nice car then get yourself a van youd be surprised how handy it will become.

Rather than an Astravan how about a Vectra VXR Estate:

Or the more sensible 2.0T Insignia Estate:

£5k will just about get you a Caddy Maxi Life wheelchair car.
Ramp for bikes and dog when it gets old!!
Long enough to sleep in.
Can get 7 seats.
No van speed limits or rubbish tip restrictions.

Perfect list. Many thanks!! Both those 500 mercs are a bit of me. I might try find an E500 with black interior so the abuse doesn’t ruin the white.

Vans are getting silly. I’d like a decent one but my modest budget only allows a crappy Vivaro

Can you get the 3 cab seats on a Caddy? I’ve got a baby on the way so I’d need at least 3 seats. Could suggest the mrs in the cargo area but value my life…

Yes, but get the 1.5 dCi, you need the torque.

Picked this up for £6k with 20k miles Feb 2020.

You wont find a finer workhorse. Easy to get a rack ontop and the boot with the seats down is cavenous, people turn them into campers there is so much room back there. https://campal.co.uk/campal-duster/
