I currently drive a 2014 Fiesta ST-Line which I've owned for 3-4 years now, it's probably due some 'bigger' bills in the coming months, it's due a timing belt change and probably new brakes and the like - definitely won't be huge bills, but I'm looking for advice either way.

I don't dislike the car, it's not fast by any stretch but it's not particularly dull to drive either, I'm not against the idea of keeping it - it's currently worth around £4k, I've looked at the likes of a newer Fiesta (the only thing I really wish I had is the likes of CarPlay) but I'm not sure I could justify paying £8-10k on top of what my car is worth for a MK8 in similar spec for that alone.

I guess what I'm after are some ideas that might convince me to get rid of my current car for something newer - I either sink ~£750-1K to get my car 'mint' and keep driving it for another few years pocketing the money for something special, or chop it in now for something a bit more modern.

I do short journeys mostly, less than 8k per year - are there any attractive (subjective I know), modern suggestions out there for £12-14k that won't shed half their value in the next 3 years?

Better the devil you know. If it's only going to cost a grand in total and you still like the car I'd be inclined to keep the up to £10k and "fix" your current motor.

If the only reason for the upgrade is wanting CarPlay/Android Auto then the simple answer is a Sync2 to Sync3 uprgrade:

It's a lot cheaper.

No way I’d be changing now unless I (a) absolutely had to or (b) I was minted and couldn’t care less.

I’d get the sync upgrade, get the service items done and get a stage 1 remap.

Just out of curiosity what age are you?

Personally the market prices are ridiculous now I definitely wouldn’t be changing unless I had to.

I’m 34 - have owned more exciting cars in the past like an RX-8 but this hasn’t been too bad

Sadly I think I have Sync1 so I’m not sure the upgrade is as easy, or possible without more intervention?

There are android tablet ‘plug and play’ options showing on eBay but not sure how good of an idea they may be?

But I am glad a lot of you are of the same opinion as me in that keeping what I have makes more sense given current prices

Decided to order a kit from Amazon to replace Sync1 with an android 10 setup, it won’t quite be sync3 but for £190 it’s worth the gamble if it’s a as ‘plug and play’ as they say

Smart choice OP, those units normally work well.
