New DB9 owner

Picking up my 2010 DB9 (my first Aston) in a week or two. It's having a few bits sorted prior to collection. What should be on my jobs list once I get it? Cheers

Congratulations! Epic news.

Fuse 12/22 (whichever one it is now) is a must - and you could consider a secondary de-cat. Makes a huge difference.

I also have the Aston bluetooth upgrade that allows music streaming - it's not cheap at around £500 but if you listen to a lot of Spotify, it's definitely worth it.

Thanks for your reply. I already have the cccharger remote fuse switch on my list having seen it elsewhere in this forum!

I think I will have to do something with the ICE - perhaps a CarPlay retrofit?

Thank you. There's one or two bits I'd like to tidy up in the interior, but the service history was fabulous - 10 AM stamps and 1 specialist (2017) since new. I'm hoping that all counts for something with the mechanicals!

Sounds about right for a mechanical peace of mind.

And all the small projects to make a car you just bought just as YOU want it are part of the magic.

apart from mechanical bits I would check the tyre age, anything over 4 years I would replace them.

I would say though, if a car hibernates during winters, inflate the tyres to about 45 psi and push the car about a foot every couple of months. You don't want flat spots.

Thanks both. Fortunately, it had 4 new tyres put on in July of this year when it was serviced

No goodyears on my car. It has Pirelli at present however as soon as they show a bit more wear I will be swapping with Michelin PS4's

Excited to see pics but part of me felt very weird the idea that you can buy a 11 year old DB9. Can't believe they have been out that long. Getting old man.

Sorry Tony, I mentioned Goodyear not because they might be on Astons, but they are a stalwart of the USA.
Got that wrong though, because I now see you are in Australia, not USA.

Be sure to check the manufacturing codes, so that you fit the wonderful Michelins, before your Pirellis become 4 years old.

…and that’s by no means the oldest DB9 available now! It’s frightening isn’t it - I remember them being launched like it was just the other day. Unlike lots of cars, the looks are just timeless - they age like a fine wine - wish the same could be said about me!

Agree on all there. DB9 still feels like it's the new one and if you fancy a 5 year old one, get a db7 which is lovely too.

I still want the V8 vantage but am not brave enough to get something now so old so getting a new 911.

Something that bit more special about Aston's and the DB9 is stunning.

The only way you'd know they are old cars is the interior where they don't have all the unnecessary mod cons that are in every car these days.

I’ve had a couple of 911s and they are, of course, fantastic cars. The Aston just makes you feel different as you walk towards it. And the reactions of other people sums it up perfectly - in the 911 they admire it as a machine and resent you a bit; in the Aston they admire its timeless beauty, they want to congratulate you and it feels like they are on your side! It brings out the plucky-underdog Brit in everyone and spreads a bit of joy!

Take a brave pill and get the Vantage!!

Yeah I do the same. You let an Aston pull out in front of you from a junction etc, but the 911 driver can rot in the side road.
