Question re driving while driving licence being renewed

Just realised UK full driving licence expired 31st Aug and have just this morning applied online for the renewal.
Nothing about my driving licence has changed and it's just a standard 10y renewal and I'm aged 52.
Does anybody know if I can continue driving while waiting for the new licence to come through?? The post application info says "
Driving before your new licence arrives
The law allows you to drive before you receive your driving licence as long as:
you have held a Great Britain or Northern Ireland licence issued since 1 January 1976
you are not disqualified from driving (there are different rules for medium or large vehicles, minibus or bus drivers - the traffic commissioner for your area will decide whether to grant your entitlement to drive these vehicles)
you have not been, and would not be, refused a licence for medical reasons
you keep to any special conditions which apply to the licence
the entitlement on your licence has not expired
I presume that the last line 'entitlement on your licence has not expired' is referring to the fact that I am not aged 75 or over rather than the fact that my licence has expired but can anybody clarify this?????
It's going to be a bit inconvenient not being able to drive otherwise but we were away on holiday and the reminder pinned to the fridge got missed in the melee!

Yes, as long as you don’t have a medical condition that needs assessment. Also, you can drive if you did have a previous medical condition and a doctor/consultant says you are now fit to drive whilst applying. Incidentally, the three year, age-related renewal starts at 70, not 75 (you are thinking of the, once free, TV Licence, or the age at which you must take a private pension).
