I dont like the key holes in the door buttons

L Reg 400 Chim with silly keyholes in the door release buttons. Have to have them at the mo as only have key operated deadlocks and immobiliser - im getting a swish new alarm/immobiliser/central locking etc etc put in next week.

Once new system is fitted can I replace the buttons with lovely new flat chrome buttons?

A/ where can I get them from?
and
B/ can I fit them myself or would it be best to get a pro to do it for me?

I wouldn't be surprised if underneath the chrome buttons was a Vauxhall lock, just for emergencies

I considered doing the same when I got mine, but tbh I'm used to them now, and can't be bothered

Fair comment. With central locking it wont make alot of difference other than cosmetic right?

Just a pain at the moment trying to 'turn full right, push down, turn half way back....' BAH

U0920 is the part but I'm not sure if you need anything else to do the conversion.

What alarm are you going for BTW ?

I have been thinking about replacing mine as I have the same arrangement as you.

Falcon Predator.
Alarm, central locking, 2 x 4btn remotes, resin potted cpu/mainboard, anti-jacking, anti-grab, total closure (windows etc), 3 stage immobiliser, 2 stage shock sensor with microwave sensors. ummmm did i miss anything ;-)

I've heard so many different things about certain alarms being no good for TVR's but at the end of the day it has a lifetime warranty so......... we'll see.

wouldn't it be possible to whip 'em out, fill in the holes and stick on some wing mirrors with buttons?

Bloody hell........if it does all of that have you thought about asking them if the plipper could operate the solenoids to just pop the drivers door open as well and you won't need the locks or the mirror buttons

Know someones that done that as part of a complette strip down and rebuild of a K plate car and it wasn't easy.
I find the keyholes on mine quite usefull really, my alarm (Clifford) has a habbit of thinking it's being codegrabed, and when it's in one of those moods it's never going to work, if the keyholes were gone I'd have no other way to lock it, also when the car lived outside and the battery inevitably went flat, you could still lock the car while the battery was out
Also sometimes I just don't want to fully activate the Cliffords proximity sensors, so can still lock and alarm the car using the special wrist shake key movement
The key holes are actually Calibra/Tigra boot locks, so if you want to play about with one I'd hunt of the Vauxhalls down at your local scrapies
