After the recent topics re: fuel consumption, I thought I'd check my mpg. I used the exact same fuel pump both times & SMARTNAV for the distance (my speedo is 20% over!). Did a fast 260 miles mainly on the M4/M25. Worked out at almost exactly 6 miles per litre or just over 27mpg. This is about the same as my 2.3l turbo Saab would return!
Not bad for a Supercharged 5.7 V8 with over 500bhp & as good or indeed better than I would have got from my approx. 380 bhp N/A GTS VT.
This was using Esso 97 RON Superunleaded. Shell 98 RON Optimax would probably have given a slightly better result.
The gearing is different to the Monaro, but anyone thinking about Supercharging their cars, don't worry about normal use fuel consumption.
