or just marry the right person in the first place? Always shocked at how many marriages fail. I bought a cheap silver band from a high street jeweler when I got married. Never saw the point of spending money on bits of metal that don't do anything. Mine looks the same as an expensive one and does exactly the same job.
Just another idea.... Search for "make your own wedding rings" near you. My wife and I hand-made each other's bands in 18ct white gold at a jewelry studio in Edinburgh and it was enormous fun, and they are infinitely more precious to us than anything we could have bought. The whole bill (including the gold and lunch) was <£1000 and I cannot recommend this approach highly enough.
I've got a couple of redundant wedding rings sitting lonely in a box in my bedside cabinet, been there for many years, plus one that has been buried deep beneath a block of flats for about 35 years or so after a drunken night out followed by a drunken argument.
Waste of money, all of them.

I went for titanium for my own. Obviously it’s got incredible strength and non-corroding properties which she thought was a simile of our marriage and I received brownie points for being such a thoughtful guy.
I actually just thought it was cool and I’d be less likely to wreck it while messing with cars.
Hers is white gold with a V shape to match and mesh around her engagement ring.

The lass that made my wife’s engagement ring and matching wedding ring just knocked up a plain silver one for me FOC and that will do. Dates engraved, initials too. I’ve a handful of friends and colleagues who have lost or damaged rings in various scenarios so thought best to keep it simple.
