Managed to break the keyfob

Hi!

Looking for some expertise.

I have a 2008 DB9 (old key fob, not ECU).

I managed to break the metal clip connecting the battery to the circuit board of the key fob. Thus, the fob does not work (and I only have one).

What’s the most cost effective way to replace?
Can i buy a new circuitboard from volvo?
If so, what is needed to get it programmed? Can a volvo dealer do it? (Closest Aston dealer is 500km away)

Any advice appreciated!

Sounds like a simple soldering jobby - a pic or two would help.

If so, there’s plenty of places that can help and probably a few PHers with the skills.

Sounds like any good phone or computer repair shop could handle this, if as simple as you describe. Def the easiest and cheapest.

As far as I know, on Amazon on can find key fob for generalist marques (sorry, Volvo falls there). I am about to buy one for my GF's Citroën as we speak, might take a look for the Volvo one.

Then you just need to have it programmed at the dealer I guess? Try the Volvo one and worst case scenario you might ship it to the Aston one with your VIN?

Hi Freidrich, how did you go with this?

I have a 2010 Vantage with the ECU, but we have the same circuit boards in our keys. I also broke the battery connector at one time, and i replaced it with a short wire of solder, which i soldered on to the remaining connection. The ~6mm length of solder wire is flexible, so i could bend it in the right way for it to touch the side of the CR2032 battery. Sorry i couldn't share this with you sooner, I can post photos if it helps
