Temperature gauge

Hi, out on a run today (probably like most ), and midway through the drive I noticed my engine temp gauge stop working. The cooling fan was still kicking in, but the gauge just sat around 50 degrees with no movement. Can I assume this is just another example of unpredictable TVR gauges or should I be concerned?

Possibly dodgy sender. Pull the wire off and short it to earth. If the gauge reads full, gauge is ok and sender probably gone bad.
Have a read of this thread. Good info. re replacement sender. I sourced one from Caterham parts and fitted it to the higher position. Leave the original in place and just swap the wire to the new replacement - it reaches fine.

This sender mod definitely works.

I no longer see 100deg at the first hint of traffic!

Why TVR ever put the sender in something of a coolant dead end is anybody’s guess.

I’ve just had the same problem…… how do you ground out the sender to check if the gauge is still working?

Don’t worry all good, found the sender tucked up below the dizzy and the lead had become detached……painful squeeze with fat fingers but now reattached and temps working again

Wow hope my fix is that easy. Away with work at the moment so can’t check, annoyingly.
