C7 2017 Audi s6 - CarPlay?

I’m looking at getting a S6 avant, 2017 with technology pack

Anyone know if CarPlay will work automatically on this car (if I connect my iPhone via usb) or do i need a Audi dealer to activate it?

I believe on the very later ones it was carplay compatible but to activate was a separate option. It may or may not be activated. There are many companies/people with laptops on Facebook who can activate it for you for less than a dealer will

The downside with the back-door activation is that it tends to throw a fault code (if such things bother you), and will often vanish after a trip to the dealer or software update.

The activation pack last time I looked was £241.33+VAT. Allow an hour of labour to fire it up.

I'm with you, I'd prefer the official route into CarPlay

I've placed a deposit today on a 2018 S6 Avant, that has the technology pack (so 2x usb in the armrest)

I asked the supplying Audi centre if they could activate CarPlay for me, to which they replied they couldn't do it on this model of car

Does that sound correct to you?

It's very occasional temperamental but on the whole works great for Waze, Spotify and podcasts which is what I mainly use it for.

I asked Audi before I bought the after market solution and got the same response as you.

Nope.

Speak to their parts department directly; give them your chassis number and ask they check compatiblity for you. If you've got tech pack I'd be very surprised if it wasn't.
