Recently took car out for a drive and when applying the brakes it seems, the pedal is slowly coming back. When depressing pedal, it’s firm and brakes bite as expected, however it’s when I remove my foot, seems to be slow at releasing. Very strange, as never experienced this before.

Reservoir is full, there seems no leaks from brake system… Car has been standing for long periods. Checked the Steve Health bible and nothing on this…

Just reaching out to see others thoughts and ideas…

As the car has been standing for long periods get your head in the footwell with a torch and have a good look at the pedal box, its probably a bit corroded around its pivot points. The pedal box on my chim was very corroded when i had it out during restoration and Ive just had similar on my recent Tuscan project which has also been standing

There is a small amount of free play in the pedal linkage so you should be able to feel, by hand, if it is the pedal stiff or the master cylinder.
The pedal can be lubricated but if it is the master cylinder I would only consider replacing it as lubricating or servicing it I would consider an unacceptable safety risk.

Well finally got around to sticking my head under the pedals:

Mechanism seems free moving, no visual issues and checked switch to see if causing any issue but it’s not. Did notice when push pedal in and let go it returns but not nearly all way as brake lights remain on.

Seems a trip to my local garage then…
