I'll go for the B29 Superfortress, as capable and awesome as the Lancaster was, it was archaic in comparison.

Not bad but I'll go for the Mosquito (if you allow light bombers). Different roles, different places, different times.

The Fw Condor was smart.

I've noticed this before, there's a lot of love for the Mosquito on here.

I went to see the one at Lincolnshire heritage centre last month, as well as their Lancaster.

Another vote for the Mosquito.

The Fairey Battle was also an attractive thing, if not desperately useful

I'd still vote for the Lancaster having seen it flying low over (I think) Derwent Water.

I've seen Lancasters fly over Derwent Reservoir on two occasions, the last being a few years back. Wonderful.

Can't think if a better looking bomber than a B17G (ignoring whether it was any good)

I have a soft spot for early B-17 versions - with the blister gun positions and the smaller tail -

I always thought the B26 was a good looking bomber and should be a contender for the “also rans” behind the Mosquito.

Very much so.

My 3 picks would be the Mossie, B26 and I'll add the Ju88 as the 3rd.

And funnily enough, it was a Mosquito that chalked up the most bombing missions by a single RAF aircraft, and a B-26 that chalked up the most by a single USAAF aircraft.

And both were demanding aircraft to fly in certain situations.

Another vote for the Arado A234 here.
As far as more traditional designs go, the Vickers Wellington was a good looking girl.

A light bomber but the same payload as a B17!

Black Widow, best name too!

I had a soft spot for the bulky old later Liberator's aswell as a heavy. Never liked B17 or B29.

Of our stuff they were all great, Lancaster has special significance for me being from Lincoln, but Mozzie, Beaufighter, all were great.
